“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
– Albert Einstein
On Sunday in the small town of Foz do Douro, the Patron Saint of great miracles, St Bartholomew, was honored with a traditional costume parade made entirely of paper. The preparation of the paper costumes involves the work of hundreds of people from local communities.
At the end of the parade participants go into the sea with their paper costumes on for a “holy bath’ as a token of thanks to St. Bartholomew for purging all their maladies for the next year.
