“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
– Alan W. Watts
“I’m Mariusz Glodek. My nickname is Mario Dansero. I’m from a village of few kilometers from Kielce, Poland. I came to Porto for a dance teacher’s training in July, 2017. After the training I applied for a job at ALC Dance Studios and I got it, so here I am.
I’ve always danced, but I started to take dancing seriously four years ago. It was a very hard time in my life with big changes and I needed to turn off somehow. I was living in Bergen at the time. Norwegian evenings filled with smuggled vodka and the same discussions became boring.
I’m grateful to be able to live life the way I want. As every artist knows we have to work a lot for little money. We train when others work. We work when others rest. We dance when others sleep. Sometimes we even sleep. We can handle this life because it’s our passion.
Dancing makes me feel like a painter, a creator who uses his body to draw a pictures on the dance floor. When I dance I feel free, like a kid playing with music. It brings up deep and strong emotions, especially when I feel like one body with my partner when we share a unique connection.
Imagine all these things together. It sounds like I’m on drugs, but that’s how dancing makes me feel.
If I could give my younger self any advice it would be, “GO FOR IT, BOY.” This is the most important thing. But the list becomes longer and longer every day.”
