“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.”
– Eckhart Tolle
On the #500 bus that was so crowded on a rainy day that it kept sliding down the cobblestone road as we crawled up the hill from the river, I distracted myself by taking photos of the passengers.
I wondered what this local man thought about the changes happening to his city. For many years in a row Porto has been voted the number one European destination. Its infrastructure is being stretched to the max by the number of tourists coming to visit.
With all changes there are good and bad points. As an expat, one more person putting a strain on this beautiful city, I’m being made to feel welcome in a country that is not my own, and for that I’m grateful.
Every time I make big changes in my life my internal infrastructure gets stretched to the max. But with that stretching I shed a skin so I can grow another one that fits the bigger me.
And in the space of that new skin something wonderful has already started to emerge.
